WIU Farm Expo

MACOMB, IL -- The 38th Annual Farm Expo at Western Illinois University, the largest student-run farm show in the United States, will be held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9-10, 2008 in Western Hall on the WIU campus in Macomb.
The two-day event, organized and conducted by WIU Agriculture Mechanization Club members and agriculture students, will feature emerging ag technology, farm tractors and machinery, livestock equipment and supplies, ag sales and service, conservation methods, crop supplies, ag structures, guest speakers and much more. More than 250 exhibitors will participate.
Robert Woerman from Land O Lakes Purina Feed will speak at the opening ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.
In addition to the expo, a farm toy and craft show will be held both days in the upper level of Western Hall, and a kiddie pedal-tractor pull will be held at noon Sunday, Feb. 10. Ribbons will be awarded to tractor pull winners in a variety of age categories. The McDonough County Child Advocacy Center will provide children's identification and fingerprint packets, and McDonough District Hospital will also host a booth featuring blood glucose screening. Agriculture Professor Tom Green's urban foresty students will host a rope-climbing activity both days of the show.
The Ag Mech Show will take place 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. Admission and parking are free.
