Candidate Withdraws from Pres. Search

MACOMB, IL - Carlos Vargas-Aburto, provost and vice president for academic affairs, Kutztown University, who recently interviewed for the position of Western Illinois University president, has withdrawn as a candidate, according to David Mead-Fox, of the search firm Korn Ferry.

Finalists include Jeremy Brown, president, Edinboro State University of Pennsylvania; Susan Koch, provost and academic vice president, Northern Michigan University; Tim Hudson, special assistant to the chancellor for international studies and initiatives for the University of Houston system; and Jack Thomas, provost and academic vice president, Western Illinois University.

The Board of Trustees will discuss the candidates during an executive session at the Dec. 17 board meeting. The 11th president of Western will be announced during the Spring 2011 semester.
