MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- Kathleen Neumann, director of Western Illinois University's School of Computer Sciences, has been named interim associate provost, effective July 1, according to WIU Provost and President-Elect Jack Thomas. Neumann will replace Ken Hawkinson when he assumes the role of interim provost July 1.

Neumann joined the WIU faculty in 1995 as an assistant professor in computer science and was named a full professor in August 2005. She was named chair of the computer science department in December 2000 (the department became the School of Computer Sciences in Fall 2010).

"Dr. Neumann's experience and her knowledge of academic processes at Western Illinois University will serve the Division of Academic Affairs well during this time of transition," said Thomas.

Neumann received her bachelor's and master's degrees from WIU, and her Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
