MACOMB, IL – Thirty-five Western Illinois University faculty have been granted promotions, effective Fall 2011.

Promotion recommendations were initiated at the departmental level, review by the college deans and Provost Jack Thomas prior to final approval by President Al Goldfarb.

Promoted from associate professor to professor:

College of Arts and Sciences -- Lori Baker-Sperry, women's studies; Jongnam Choi, geography; Peter Cole, history; Tracy Knight, psychology; J. Scott McConnell, chemistry; Kenneth McCravy and Eric Ribbens, biological sciences; and Sam Thompson, geography.

College of Business and Technology -- Martin Coe, accountancy and finance; Yeongkwun Kim, School of Computer Sciences; and Kasing Man, economics and decision sciences.

College of Education and Human Services -- Marcia Carter, recreation, park and tourism administration; Jamie Johnson, health sciences; Lloyd Kilmer, educational leadership; and Cynthia Piletic, kinesiology.

College of Fine Arts and Communication -- Susan Czechowski and Tim Waldrop, art.

Promoted from assistant professor to associate professor:

College of Arts and Sciences -- Merrill Cole, English and journalism; Curtis Dunkel and Colin Harbke, psychology; Kishor Kapale, physics; Marie-Claire Koissi, mathematics; Daniel Malachuk, English and journalism; and Craig Tollini, sociology and anthropology.

College of Business and Technology -- Ryan Hunt, management and marketing.

College of Education and Human Services -- Tamara Bories, kinesiology; and Melissa Stinnett, curriculum and instruction.

College of Fine Arts and Communication -- Brett Eberhardt, art; and Richard Hughey, Brian Locke, Michael Stryker and Istavan Szabo, School of Music.

University Libraries -- Sean Cordes and Jeff Matlak.
