MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research (CITR) will offer a faculty forum relating to gender and diversity from 3-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 in Malpass Library, Room 180.

Session instructors include Yuki Hasebe, associate professor, educational and interdisciplinary studies; Essie Rutledge, professor emeritus, sociology and African American studies; and Audrey Watkins, associate professor, African American Studies.

The forum will provide an informal opportunity for female faculty members of ethnic/racial minority groups to share and discuss their experiences and challenges related to their teaching at predominantly white institutions of higher education.

"Our discussion will extend to sharing data, tips and strategies that might be applicable and beneficial for effective teaching and class management," said Hasebe. "The meeting is embedded in the idea of promoting an environment of interpersonal justice and fairness. Female faculty members of racial minority groups and international female faculty members are particularly encouraged to attend."
