MHS Senior Ryan Cody Selected for WIU Scholarship
November 11, 2011
MACOMB, IL – Ryan Cody, a Macomb High School senior, has been selected for a Western Illinois University Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers tuition, fees and a residence hall room for four years.
High school students with an ACT score of 28 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher have the opportunity to qualify for the scholarship.
Cody said he chose Western not only because of the scholarship opportunity presented to him, but also because of WIU's "great athletic training program."
"Western has great facilities and programs," he added. "I feel the professors will be able to give me the tools I need to have a successful career."
In addition to majoring in athletic training, Cody said he sees himself getting involved in intramurals and possibly the Leatherneck golf team. As a Macomb High student, Cody has been a member of the golf and baseball teams, and has been involved in the National Honor Society and the Spanish Club.
"I am looking forward to attending Western," he said. "College is the gateway to my future and will give me the skills I need to accomplish what I want in life."
After graduating from Western, Cody's goal is to get a job as an athletic trainer at a university.
