Ashby Chosen for Western Illinois University Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL - Shealyn Ashby, a Tremont High School senior, from Pekin, has been selected for a Western Illinois University Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers tuition, fees, and a residence hall room for four years.
High school students with an ACT score of 28 and higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher have the opportunity to qualify for the scholarship.
Ashby said she chose Western because of its "homey atmosphere."
"From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt at home," she said. "WIU has a beautiful campus, and is very driven and focused on helping your college experience be the best that it can be."
In high school, Ashby is involved in madrigals, Scholastic Bowl, the marching, pep and jazz bands and concert choir.
At WIU, Ashby plans to study communication sciences and disorders and participate in the WIU Marching Band.
After graduation, she plans to get her master's degree in communication sciences and disorders before entering the field of speech/language pathology.
