Dear WIU Campus Community:

I am happy to report that Western Illinois University has received its final reimbursements from the state for FY'11. While the University has received some payments for Fiscal Year 2012, the current amount the state owes Western for the current fiscal year totals
$20.2 million.

While the Fiscal Year 2011 payments certainly do help our finances, we must continue to conserve resources because there remains a delay in current reimbursements. All spending continues to be limited to immediate and essential operational needs only, and all purchases more than $500 must continue to be submitted for vice presidential approval.

As we have stated previously, the University's priorities are to continue to provide outstanding academic programs and to support our employees. We will continue to follow the process for hiring that has been in place.

Thank you for your continued understanding of the cash flow situation and for your commitment to Western Illinois University.

Sincerely,

Jack Thomas
President
