MACOMB, IL -- Books left over from Western Illinois University Libraries' annual book sale this past year will soon be in the hands of children who receive services at Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana (IL). According to Greg Phelps, library specialist, nine boxes of books have been donated.

"When we heard Pastor Mark Smith and members of the congregation of the Colchester United Methodist Church were conducting a drive to collect children's items for the Cunningham Children's Home, we knew the books would be put to good use," he said.

According to Phelps, the book sale is an annual fundraiser held in the spring semester in the Leslie F. Malpass Library on the WIU-Macomb campus. He said the 2012 WIU Libraries' Annual Book Sale is slated from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, Feb. 6-9, and book donations are still being accepted.

"Passing the books on to the children is a great way for us to give back to the community and promote reading at the same time," added WIU Libraries Dean Phyllis Self.
