Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research Call for Presentation Proposals

MACOMB, IL - -Western Illinois University's Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research (CITR) is seeking presentation proposals for the annual WIU Symposium on Teaching, Research and Creative Activities which is scheduled for Friday, March 23. This year's symposium theme mirrors the Universitywide theme, "Science and Technology: Discover, Innovate and Create."

Proposals are due by 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30 to CITR, Malpass Library 637. Submission guidelines are available on the CITR website, wiu.edu/citr/events/symposiums.sphp.

Six concurrent session proposals, three in each track, will be accepted for presentation. Faculty members with the top-rated proposal in each track will be awarded a $500 travel stipend to be used by June 30 to advance their research. Also, a $500 special stipend will be awarded to the top-rated proposal from a new (2012) faculty member.

All reviewing will be done by Friday, Feb. 17, and faculty with accepted presentations will be notified by Monday, Feb. 20.

The symposium will run from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday, March 23 in the University Union. The schedule for the symposium is as follows:

8:30-9:30 a.m. - Coffee and Faculty Showcase
9-9:45 a.m. - Concurrent Sessions
10-10:45 a.m. - Concurrent Sessions
11-11:45 a.m. - Concurrent Sessions
12-1:30 p.m. - Keynote Speaker and Lunch
1:45-2:30 p.m. - Pedagogy Panel Discussion
