MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University's College of Business and Technology (CBT) and the Macomb Area Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Development Corp. (MACCDDC) will present "The 2012 Outlook: Implications for the U.S. and Western Illinois" from 11:30 – 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at the Macomb Country Club. William Strauss, senior economist and economic advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, will speak at the luncheon presentation.

This is the fourth consecutive year for the Economic Outlook Luncheon, which is also co-sponsored by the WIU Department of Economics and Decision Sciences. In keeping with the format of previous years, Strauss' presentation will interpret the key economic indicators relevant to the western Illinois region and examine the impact of the U.S. national economy on local consumers and businesses. The presentation will close with time for questions from the audience.

"While the economy is showing signs of improvement, unemployment remains high and conditions overseas continue to put a damper on the stock market," said Economics and Decision Sciences Professor, William Polley. "In this election year, the focus on the economy will be even more intense than usual. This event is a tremendous opportunity for local community members to see the larger economic picture and put it into the proper perspective. Bill Strauss delivers an informative and engaging presentation that shows the relationship between national trends and the Illinois economy."

The cost for the event is $20 per person. Checks should be made payable to MACCDDC.
The deadline for registration is March 27. Entrée choices include spinach salad with grilled chicken or a prime rib sandwich. Registrations can be sent to MACCDDC, P.O. Box 274, Macomb, IL 61455.

For more information, contact the MACCDDC at (309) 837-4855.
