MACOMB, IL -- Get out and get some exercise with a furry friend at the third annual Donna Phillips Memorial 5K Fun Run/Dog Walk Saturday, April 28 on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus. Both events, the 5K run and the Dog Walk, are slated to start at 9:30 a.m. April 28. Check in, which begins at 8:30 a.m., will be near the east entrance of Brophy Hall.

The entry fee per person (with dog) is $20, and pre-registration is due by Monday, April 23 (late registration will be accepted until 9:15 a.m. April 28). Sponsored by the Western Illinois University Department of Kinesiology, the event is a fundraiser for the Donna S. Phillips Scholarship Endowment. According to the event website, proceeds from the event will also go toward the kinesiology department's student organizations.

"Fifty percent of the money raised will be directed toward the Donna Phillips Scholarship Fund, and 50 percent will be divided evenly among the various student clubs that have assisted with the run. The student clubs will be able to use this money to help defray costs for such things as travel and registration to professional conferences, trips and other events that they may choose to sponsor," states the website.

The 2012 Donna Phillips Memorial 5K Fun Run/Dog Walk will begin and end at Brophy Hall. To see a map of the 5K run/walk route, visit www.wiu.edu/coehs/kinesiology/donnaphillipsrun/route5k.php.
