WIU Students Inducted Into Freshman Honors Society Phi Eta Sigma

MACOMB, IL - - Seventy-nine Western Illinois University freshmen were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma during an April 14 ceremony on campus.

Invitation to membership into the national freshman honor society is extended to students who earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for their first semester. Phi Eta Sigma was founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois to recognize and encourage high scholastic achievement among freshmen in institutions of higher learning.

Current officers for WIU's Phi Eta Sigma chapter are president Ty Beckmann, a sophomore graphic communication major from Bellevue, NE; vice president Mecole Jordan, a sophomore communication major from the 7800 block of S. Ashland Ave., Chicago; secretary Cristen Greer, a sophomore elementary education major from Peoria; treasurer Lisa Burgess, a sophomore business major from Lansing; and historian Nina Snode, a sophomore instructional technology and telecommunications major from Channahon.
