MACOMB, IL - - Area high school students demonstrated their financial accounting knowledge on Western Illinois University's Macomb campus Friday (April 20) at the 13th annual Accounting Challenge.
Sponsored by WIU's accountancy department, Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) and the Illinois CPA Society, the event not only provided area students a chance to showcase their accounting skills through a written competition, but it also provided them with information about Western's accountancy program. For the 13th annual event, six area high schools and a total of 49 students competed. Western awarded scholarships to each first, second and third place individual winner choosing to major in accounting at WIU.
The participating high schools were Macomb, Sherrard, Spoon River Valley, Rushville-Industry, Hillsboro and Southeastern.
While the students were testing, an education round table was conducted for the instructors, led by Greg Woodruff, chair of the WIU accounting and finance department.
