MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – The Western Illinois Women in Business student organization attended the 2022 Women Lead Change Conference in Bettendorf, IA, in early October.

Women Lead Change is a premier leadership organization for women dedicated to the development, advancement and promotion of women in the workforce and beyond.

Four WIU Business students attend the conference with Women in Business Advisor and Management and Marketing Instructor Michelle Howe, including Emma Patla, Samantha Macauley, Kailey Sanders and Madison Butts.

"These women had an opportunity to learn more about themselves, consider how they wanted to be perceived in the workplace and network with professional women," Howe said. "Some of the students have already connected with these women on LinkedIn and are having conversations about their future careers."

The daylong conference showcased a variety of women's empowerment speakers, including actress Tamera Mowry-Housley, known for her roles in Sister Sister, Twitches and Tia & Tamera. Topics ranged from work-life balance; how to be heard and seen; authentic self-love and emotional intelligence.

"I enjoyed attending the conference and learned valuable skills from accomplished women leaders," said Patla. "It is important to me to be authentic and confident in myself as I enter my professional career."
