WIU School of Education to Host Future Teachers Day Oct. 27

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's School of Education will host a Future Teachers Day (FTD) Event at 9:45 a.m -2:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 on the Macomb Campus.

WIU welcomes high school sophomores, juniors and seniors interested in learning about K-12 teaching as a career. Participants should be with a teacher or responsible adult. The event will teach students how training to become a teacher works at WIU. The program is free and will include lunch for all attendees.

Event activities include:

-10:15-10:50 a.m. Information on WIU's admissions process, WIU's Teacher Education Program and financial aid.
-10:50-11:30 Campus tour beginning with a visit to Horrabin Hall, home of WIU's School of Education.
-11:30-Noon Observe and participate in a Mock Teacher Education course.
-1:00-1:45 p.m. Breakout sessions for individual programs (pick two).

  • Middle Level or Secondary Education

  • Language Arts

  • History

  • Mathematics

  • Sciences

  • Agricultural Education

  • Art Education

  • World Language (Spanish and French)

  • Music Education

  • Special Education

  • -2:15 p.m. A ribbon cutting will be held for the Seymour Center.
