WIU Symphony to Present “Shades of Holst” Concert

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Symphony Orchestra will present "Shades of Holst," a special concert celebrating the music of British composer Gustav Holst at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in the COFAC Recital Hall.

The concert offers WIU and Macomb audiences a chance to enjoy Holst's timeless music performed by talented student musicians, highlighting Holst's wide-ranging musical imagination, from folk-inspired melodies to celestial soundscapes.​

The performance will feature several of Holst's most compelling works, including Somerset Rhapsody, Japanese Suite, Fugal Overture and selected movements from his iconic orchestral masterpiece, The Planets.

Admission is free and open to the public.
