Letter To Campus

Dear Campus Community

I have received several concerns about the language used in a Western Courier opinion piece in the Wednesday, March 3 issue.

As I have emphasized in the past, when there have been complaints raised about Courier opinion pieces, the authors and the paper do not speak for the University but for themselves under the privileges granted by the First Amendment.

But I also want to again assure the campus that we will continue our efforts to teach all members of our University community about tolerance, civility and social justice.
