MACOMB, IL – The Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at Western Illinois University is pleased to announce that Ron Sydnor, a building service worker who was assigned to Western Hall during the summer, has been selected as the December Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to his nominators, “Ron makes Western Hall look better than any other time when he is in charge of cleaning. He never stops working. Ron never needs to be told when something needs to be done. He knows this building well, sees what needs to be done and takes the initiative to get the job done well.”

Sydnor’s nominators also cited his personable and friendly manner. “He always has a smile on his face and a kind word. In the middle of cleaning the doors, he’ll always stop to say ‘hello’ to any passerby and ask how his/her day is. It’s those little things he does that makes your day brighter.”

Sydnor began working at Western in March 1981. He is currently assigned to Lincoln Hall.

“We’d like to congratulate Ron for going above and beyond the call of duty, and for making a difference,” said Janet Koll, CSEC public relations officer.

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should call Koll at 309/298-1811 or e-mail JM-Koll@wiu.edu.
