MACOMB, IL -- The Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) at Western Illinois University is pleased to announce that Peggy Roth, library operations associate in the Leslie F. Malpass Library, was selected as the September Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to Roth's nominators, "as unit coordinaor of the circulation unit, Peggy coordinates all of the activities with energy, enthusiasm and pride in the University and the University Libraries. She is always willing to jump in and do what needs to be done."

"Many changes at the Library required her and the unit to take on new tasks and learn and develop new procedures. She and her unit met each of the challenges in a timely and efficient manner," her nominators added. "She works hard to instill pride, enthusiasm and work ethic into her staff. As a result, her staff feels they are part of an effective team."

Roth began working at WIU in 1979 as a library clerk III until 1984. She returned to Western in 1989 as secretary IV in Financial Aid and was promoted to library technical assistant I in 1990. Roth's position was reallocated to library assistant in 1992 and reclassified as a library specialist in 2006. She was reclassified to her current position in July 2007.

"Peggy's work is another example of the various duties that Civil Service personnel excel at every day on this campus," said Laura Caldwell, CSEC public relations officer. "Her impact on the Malpass Library and the University represents the best in educational values that are available at Western."

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Caldwell at 309/298-1917 or e-mail
