MACOMB, IL – Twelve WIU students have been cast for the 2008 performance of "The Vagina Monologues," which will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 14-15 in the Horrabin Hall Theatre on the Western Illinois University Macomb Campus.

This year's cast includes: Jana Anderson, a senior communication sciences and disorders major from Joliet (IL); Lily Blouin, a sophomore theatre major from Anchorage, (AK); Emilee Bowling, a sophomore English major from North Pekin (IL); Danielle "Dani" BuGay, a junior English major from Arlington Heights (IL); Shannon Farrell, a sophomore law enforcement and justice administration major from Bridgeview (IL); Heather Fielder, a senior Spanish major from Rock Island (IL); Darcy McNeese, a freshman French major from Macomb; Kathleen Myers, sophomore musical theatre major from Chicago; Tiffany Pearl, a sophomore double major in law enforcement and justice administration and sociology, from Crystal Lake (IL); Yvette Saleh, a junior political science major from Franklin Park (IL); Nicole Sowers, senior sociology major from Elgin (IL) and Linda Strueber, a senior double major in social work and psychology from Macomb.

Ashley Perrin, a freshman broadcasting major from Roscoe (IL), will direct the production.

Rebecca Groves, a graduate student in Western's college student personnel program from Lodi, (WI), is serving as production coordinator.

"The Vagina Monologues" is part of the V-Day College Campaign that is brought to Western by the Women's Center and by Western's Feminist Action Alliance (FAA) student organization. This year's theme is V10 in honor of the 10th anniversary of "The Vagina Monologues."

According to Groves, who is also a Women's Center graduate assistant and FAA adviser, funds raised by the production will be donated to organizations and causes that provide violence education and support services, including the Western Illinois Regional Council-Victim Services agency; the University Counseling Center; the Women's Center, and the V-Day Foundation, with funds supporting the "Katrina Warriors," female survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

"There are some new and exciting components of the V-Day College Campaign fundraiser this year," Groves said. "The V-Day International organizers are allowing campuses to do only two performances of the Monologues this year versus the traditional three, and on the third night, Saturday, Feb. 16, we will have a benefit screening of the video 'Until the Violence Stops.' "Later in the spring semester we will have a benefit performance of ‘A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer.'"

Tickets, which may be purchased in the Women's Center, 320 Seal Hall, as well as from members of the cast and crew, are $10 for students and $12 for non-students. Payment may be made by cash or check made payable to the Women's Center.
