MACOMB, IL -- Sandy Larimer, a publications editor in Document and Publications Services, has been named the Western Illinois University February Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to Larimer's nominators, her attention to detail is "impeccable and the end result is always the best anyone could ever want it to be. She has worked at the campus for many years and has an extensive knowledge of the community, which greatly helps with the jobs she works on and completes."

"Sandy contributes to our department and the University by making sure a job is always done correctly, and she notices the small things that could really make the University's image look negative and sloppy," her nominator added. "Her impact affects everyone in the University in such a positive light."

Larimer began working at Western in July 1984 as a secretary III for Intercollegiate Athletics. In August 1985 she became an instructor for the English and journalism department, and in August 1986 she became a secretary III in Human Resources. She moved to Curriculum Publications Clearinghouse (CPC) as a secretary III in January 1987 and was promoted to technical editor for CPC in July 1988. Larimer was promoted to publications editor on Feb 1, 2005 when CPC became part of Document and Publication Services (DPS).

"We applaud Sandy's stellar work ethic and her attention to detail. Employees such as Sandy make Western the great place it is," said Laura Caldwell, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative. "It is an honor to present Sandy with the CSEC Employee of the Month Award for February 2008."

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Caldwell at 309/298-1917 or e-mail LM-Caldwell@wiu.edu.
