MACOMB, IL – Jo Davis, office manager for the Office of Global Education at Western Illinois University, has been named the WIU March Civil Service Employee of the Month.

According to her nominator, Davis surpasses and excels in enthusiasm and outstanding performance in all job duties. "Jo is thoroughly prepared when communicating about global education issues and tackles her duties with a positive attitude, self-confidence, ease and conscientiousness.

"One of Jo's duties is working with international students. From the time they arrive on campus until they depart, Jo is available to assist in solving any problems they may encounter as new students. She even goes as far as to assist them in the evenings or weekends. Jo does everything possible to ensure their stay at WIU is comfortable," her nominator added. "Jo gives more than is expected and she definitely creates an atmosphere of affability."

Davis began working at Western in October 1995 as a Secretary II (extra help) for Disability Support Services. She was hired in January 1996 as an office support associate in Purchasing, and was promoted to an office support specialist in Extended Learning in August 1997. Two years later, Davis transferred to the management department and in 2001 she was named to her current position.

"Jo is to be commended for a job well-done and for making Western Illinois University a better place for faculty, staff and students," said Laura Caldwell, Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) public relations representative.

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this recognition should contact Caldwell at (309) 298-1000 or e-mail LM-Caldwell@wiu.edu.
