Women's Center Blood Drive Thursday, April 16
April 15, 2009
MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Women's Center will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, April 16 in the University Union Grand Ballroom. The goal is to meet the standards of 36 units.
According to the Red Cross, only 38 percent of the population is eligible to give blood and only a fraction of those actually donate.
"The Women's Center strongly encourages all who are eligible to donate blood," said Christina Motley, a freshman health sciences major from Homewood, IL, serving as the women's heath outreach coordinator for the Women's Center. "For every one donor, the lives of three patients are saved. Please help change a life, starting with your own."
First-time donors are encouraged to attend, as well as anyone who has ever donated and those who may be eligible to donate. Regular donors who have not donated since March 5, 2009 are eligible to donate. Walk-ins are welcome.
The Women's Center Blood Drive is co-sponsored by the Feminist Action Alliance and Organization of Adult Students for Interaction and Support (OASIS) student organizations.
For more information or to sign up to donate, contact the Women's Center at (309) 298-2242 or visit wc.wiu.edu.
