WIU's Summer Music Camps for Junior and Senior High School Students

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University's School of Music invites junior high and senior high school instrumental, drum major and vocal students to its Study with the Masters Summer Music Camps, which will be held during June and July.

Senior high specialty camps, which will run Thursday, June 11-Sunday, June 14, will include master classes and individual lessons by Western Illinois University's renown faculty, and performances. Camps are offered in flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, viola, cello, violin and steel drum.

A set of four senior high camps is set for Sunday, June 14-Saturday, June 20. They include concert band camp, led by WIU Director of Bands Mike Fansler; vocal/choral camp, led by Western's Director of Choral Activities James Stegall; orchestra camp, with Western's Director of Orchestral Studies Richard Hughey; and piano camp, with Professor Tammie Walker.

Two junior high camps are scheduled for Sunday, June 21-Saturday, June 27: vocal/choral with Stegal, and concert band with Fansler.

The final camps are Sunday, June 28-Friday, July 3. They are: junior/senior high jazz improvisation camp led by WIU's Director of Jazz Studies John Cooper with guest artists on staff, and the senior high drum major camp led by Fansler.
