Tracy Named Social Work Dept. Chair

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) is pleased to announce that John Tracy has been named social work department chair, effective July 1. Tracy will replace interim chair Mike Fimmen, who is retiring.

Before coming to Western to serve at the helm of the social work department, Tracy served as a social work faculty member at the University of Wyoming. He also served as a social work faculty member and as a field education coordinator at the University of Guam and as an assistant professor of social work at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Tracy also has experience as a high school counselor and social science instructor, and his years of professional practice social work experience include working with mental health agencies in Colorado, Iowa, California, Illinois and Missouri.

"John's extensive work as a social work practitioner, his successful grant-writing activities, his strong collaborative skills and his engagement in research will be a benefit to the social work department's accredited and regionally recognized program at WIU," Interim Dean Nick DiGrino said.

Tracy earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Truman State University, a master's degree in social work from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. in education and human resource studies at Colorado State University.
