Guest Classical Guitarist In Concert March 4

MACOMB, IL - - Christopher Davis – guitarist, producer, teacher and writer – will present a guest classical guitar recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall on the Western Illinois University campus. The concert is open free to the public.

A native of Iowa, Davis performs solo classical guitar; he plays in rock, jazz and Christian groups as well. He also maintains and writes the Classical Guitar Blog (www.classicalguitarblog.net).

Davis earned his Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance and music business at Drake University. He is currently pursuing a master's degree at Austin Peay State University (Clarksville, TN), where he is a faculty member of the APSU Community School of the Arts.

The recital program will include Bach's "Lute Suite in A minor (orig. C minor), BWV 995"; "Theme and Variations, op. 77" by Lennox Berkeley; "Elegie," by Johann Kaspar Mertz; "Impromptus," by Richard Rodney Bennett; and "Six Variations on 'Folies d'Espagne,' op. 45." By Mauro Giuliani.
