Homeland Security Research Program to Sponsor Arab Spring Lecture May 2

MACOMB IL -- Western Illinois University's Homeland Security Research Program is sponsoring a lecture covering the Arab Spring this week by Uri Rosset. Rosset is an assistant professor at Sapir College in Sderot, Israel, and an Arabic analyst at Intuview, an Israeli company that develops software for security and defense applications.

Rosset will deliver "The Arab Spring and Beyond," starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 in Stipes Hall, room 121, on the WIU-Macomb campus. The lecture is open free to the public.

According to Dean Alexander, associate professor in the WIU School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration and director of the Homeland Security Research Program at Western, Rosset teaches courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Middle East and terrorism. He earned his Ph.D., M.A. and B.A. in Middle East history from Hebrew University in Jerusalem (Israel), and he speaks Hebrew, Arabic and English.
