TimelyCare - Virtual Health and Well-Being

Western Illinois students have FREE, 24/7 access to virtual care services with TimelyCare — the virtual health and well-being platform designed for college students. Students do not need insurance to access TimelyCare services. As part of Western Illinois’ partnership with TimelyCare, students have access to services in TimelyCare, including:

  • TalkNow: 24/7, on-demand emotional support to talk about anything, including anxiety, relationships, depression, and school-related stressors.
  • Scheduled Counseling: Choose the day, time, and mental health provider that best works for you. (9 visits per year)
  • Health Coaching: Develop healthy lifestyle behaviors, including nutrition, sleep habits, time management, and mindfulness.
  • Self-Care Content: Visit the “Explore” page within TimelyCare for guided self-care content, including yoga and meditation sessions, as well as group conversations with our providers on a variety of health and well-being topics.
  • Basic Needs Support: Access to low or reduced-cost community resources, including food and housing assistance, transit support, childcare, and finances. Students have access to TimelyCare services 365 days a year. That means you have access during breaks, after-hours, and any time you need support! Visit timelycare.com/wiu to get started.

How to Access TimelyCare

To get started, students can visit timelycare.com/wiu and register with their name and WIU email address. Visits are available from any web-enabled device – smartphone, laptop, or desktop.

How to these services compare to what I can receive from the University Counseling Center?

The University Counseling Center offers:

  • In-Person Individual Counseling
  • In-Person Group Counseling
  • In-Person Crisis Counseling (Available during University operating hours)
  • In-Person Relaxation or Skill-Building Sessions
  • In-Person Single Servings: Mental Health Workshops (Do not need to be a current client of the University Counseling Center)
  • Campus Psychiatric Consultation Referrals

TimelyCare offers:

  • Virtual Individual Counseling (Out of State)
  • Virtual Crisis Counseling (24/7/365)
  • Health Coaching
  • Online Peer Support Community

Both the University Counseling Center and TimelyCare are free, confidential and offer virtual individual counseling (State of Illinois) and online mental health education and stress management.

Where can I receive faculty/staff consultation?

The Student Development and Success Center partners with the University Counseling Center to provide consultation to faculty and staff who may be concerned about a student. Please submit a Leatherneck Care Referral should you have concerns about your student’s overall well-being.
