Webmail/ECom

The Electronic Communications (ECom) system is the hub for electronic communication for students, faculty, staff and organizations at Western. Your ECom username provides access to e-mail, personal web space, online courses, and servers for programming and research.

Accessing Your ECom Username

Your ECom username is printed on your temporary ID card. You may also signon to STARS and select "Addresses" from the menu.

Activating Your Account

Activate your ECom account by using GUAVA. Follow the instructions and use your lower case ECom username.

Checking Your Mail

WebMail/Zimbra will allow you to check your ECom e-mail through any web browser connected to the interent. It is convenient if you are checking your e-mail from a computer lab or from home. Western Illinois University will be sending important e-mail to your WIU e-mail account. Please be sure to check your WIU e-mail regularly.

Forwarding Your Mail

If you use another e-mail account and do not intend to use WIU e-mail, then select
"E-Mail Service" from GUAVA or forward your e-mail through Zimbra Preferences to your preferred account.
