Renowned Economist to Speak at WIU

MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Department of Economics and Decision Sciences will host a presentation by renowned behavioral economist Elizabeth Hoffman at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5 in Stipes Hall, room 121. The presentation is open free to the public.

Hoffman, whose research is crossed with economics, law, psychology and history, has received several awards and has been published in a variety of influential newspapers and textbooks, including numerous co-authored papers with a Nobel Prize Laureate. The American Economic Association recognized her contribution as a mentor to researchers at the frontier of her field and for improving the status of women in the economics profession.

Currently, Hoffman is serving as the Distinguished Fellow at the Searle Center on Law, Regulation and Economic Growth at Northwestern University and is a professor at Iowa State University. She has previously served as the provost at the University of Illinois at Chicago and as president of the University of Colorado system.
