WIU Accounting Chair Receives Outstanding Leader in Advancing Diversity Award

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University Accounting and Finance Department Chair Gregg Woodruff was recently named the recipient of the Lester H. McKeever Jr. Outstanding Leader in Advancing Diversity Award by the Illinois CPA Society.

This award, chosen by the Illinois CPA Society awards committee and the Board of Directors, recognizes someone who they consider an exceptional leader committed to increasing diversity in the accounting profession.

"Dr. Woodruff is a student-focused professor and chair. He devotes much of his time to making sure that students not only succeed in the classroom, but also in their careers. He especially encourages students to earn their CPA certificates and supports their efforts," said Jack Elfrink, interim dean of the WIU College of Business and Technology. "This fall, Dr. Woodruff initiated the CPA Project, which is unique in the country. The project is designed to assist minority students complete their degrees and pass the CPA examination. The project is underwritten by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants."
