CJ Schaeffer Jr., Drue Galassi, and Javin Drake were named First Team All-Summit League.

Former Leatherneck Loes Geurts is playing in goal for the Netherlands in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Javin Drake and CJ Schaeffer Jr. doubled down on Summit League postseason awards with selections to the all-academic team.

WIU CPA Project Begins this Fall

The Department of Accounting and Finance will have their first cohort of students for the CPA Project during the Fall 2019 Semester. The project is funded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is designed to enhance successful degree completion and passage of the CPA examination by minority students. MBA in Ag Business Available this Fall

Beginning in Fall 2019, students at Western Illinois University will be able to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in ag business allowing a smoother transition to graduate school for students. Full story here.  

 

WIU Ag Professor Researching Wild Hemp

School of Agriculture Professor Win Phippen will begin a yearlong research project to harvest and study wild hemp plants from each of Illinois' 102 counties. The yearlong research project will evaluate the hemp strains for THC levels.  Full story here.

 

WIU School of Engineering Offers Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering

Beginning in Fall 2019, Western Illinois University will offer two new degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the Quad Cities campus. Full story here.  

 

New Business Living-Learning Community Available to Students

WIU students majoring or minoring in business studies now have an opportunity to be part of the new business living-learning community which gives students the opportunity to live and learn alongside other students with common interests and academic goals. This environment gives students the chance to study together, work collaboratively on projects, and grow professionally and personally. Students will have the opportunity to participate in business-related student organizations, field trips, and social activities with classmates, peers, and faculty from the College of Business and Technology.
