Adobe Software for Western Illinois University
Western Illinois University employees and students are eligible to install Adobe software for University purposes upon request. In order to guarantee an adequate supply of licenses, we must review all requests.
Software Available to Everyone
- All university employees automatically have access to Acrobat Studio. Acrobat Studio contains:
- Acrobat Pro : PDF solution for creating, editing, and managing documents.
- Adobe Express : Use AI to generate images, videos, social posts, and more.
- All university students automatically have access to Adobe Acrobat Express. Acrobat Express contains:
- Adobe Express : use AI to generate images, videos, social posts, and more.
- Acrobat AI Assistant and Student Spaces : AI-powered workspaces allowing users to group up to 100 documents, web links, and notes.
No form or approval is required to use the software above; simply follow these instructions:

Requesting Additional Adobe Software
To request a license to install additional Adobe products, please complete this form. You must be a current student or employee of Western to qualify. Due to limited licensing, all requests must be reviewed and approved.

Adobe offers tutorials for all applications included. Visit Adobe's website for tutorial articles and videos for all skill levels.

Q: Are these Adobe products free?
A: These Adobe products are available at no additional cost for WIU students, faculty and staff. However, due to limited licensing, all requests must be reviewed and approved.
Q: How do I install Adobe software?
A: Installation instructions for the software that is available to ALL students and employees is posted above. If you need access to additional software, complete the Adobe Software request form. uTech staff will notify you once a license is applied to your account and send you instructions to follow.
If you later have trouble with installation, please contact the Support Center so that we can assist you.
Q: What applications are included with Western Illinois University’s Adobe license? And what can I do with each of these applications?

Q: Can I install Adobe software on more than one system?
A: Yes, you can install it on up to two systems (WIU-owned or personally-owned computers). Per the WIU Technology Use Policy, the use of University-provided Adobe software is limited to University-use only.
Q: How long can I use the Adobe applications?
A: To ensure sufficient license availability, University Technology will periodically review Adobe software usage. This review ensures that licenses are allocated to individuals with a genuine need for University-related tasks. For instance, students not enrolled in classes requiring Adobe software will lose access after the semester.
Moreover, individuals leaving the University (due to graduation, withdrawal, resignation, retirement, etc.) will lose access to Adobe apps. Please ensure all data is backed up to a personal storage solution before leaving the University.
