In order to better inform the campus community concerning possible virus threats, University Computer Support Services is implementing a system that will display a web page when you login to a file server. This web page can be configured to either display only once per computer or every time that a user connects to the file server. Most of the time we will only be displaying the web page once, when a virus threat is expected. This web page can be viewed manually by going to http://www.wiu.edu/virus

Double click on the yellow shield in your system tray
The Symantec AntiVirus version is located on the right side of the window in a section labeled Program Versions
The Definition File version is located on the right side of the window in a section labeled Virus Definition File

How do I update DEF files for Symantec AntiVirus?

Symantec AntiVirus is setup to update virus definition file automatically. The update happens in the background so the user does not have to request an update. We update the virus definition files nightly. If your definitions are more than 10 days out of date, please contact the UCSS Helpdesk.

How do I install Symantec AntiVirus?

Contact the UCSS Helpdesk at 298-2704 to have Symantec AntiVirus installed for you.
