About the Program

General: Study at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), one of the oldest universities in Korea. SKKU is located in the vibrant city of Seoul and offers multiple academic options for students.

Semester Programs: Students can participate in a semester or academic year exchange at SKKU where they will have opportunities to take coursework in English in a variety of disciplines. Students will also have access to Korean language courses   and can participate in semester-long intensive Korean language courses.

Summer Program: The International Summer Semester (ISS) is a four-week summer program where students can take courses from a variety of disciplines. Students will choose 2 courses and complete 6 semester hours during this program. More information about the summer program can be found on the summer program page.

Housing and Meals: SKKU has on campus housing available in student dormitories. More information about housing and meal options can be found on the SKKU website.  

Entry Requirements: Students must apply for a visa before entering Korea. Visa requirements can be found here. 

Health Insurance: It is a university policy that all WIU students who study abroad are either covered under WIU student health insurance OR have purchased the Patriot Travel Medical Insurance plan through IMG.

Exchange students are eligible to take most courses offered at SKKU. Courses are offered in a wide range of disciplines allowing students to take coursework towards major, minor, and general education requirements during the same semester.
