Get Help with Western Online
(Western Online Virtual Assistant)

In Western Online (D2L) we now have a virtual assistant to help with all things Western Online, click Get Help in the bottom right corner of Western Online to get help now!

To better support WIU students, faculty, and staff WIU has contracted an agreement with D2L’s End User Support services, marking the first time in WIU’s history that End User Support for Western Online will be available 24/7/365 to all users! 

Now that the Western Online Virtual Assistant has been loaded,  all users  are expected to use the Virtual Assistant as their  first point of contact for how-to, and technical questions regarding Western Online.  If questions cannot be answered by the Virtual Assistant they will be directed to the appropriate office at WIU.

  • Where do I request services such as Course Shell Creation, Course Reset, LTI Integration, Course Copies, etc.? 
    • These requests will be handled through OTL's Request a Service page. Visit that page and fill out the appropriate form. If a form does not exist for your request, send your request directly to
  • Where do I request support for items not related to Western Online? 
  • Where do I request assistance with instructional design, course development, course approval, one-on-one instructional training, workshops, etc.?
    • Such requests should be directed to uTech's Online Teaching and Learning team.
    • To request an appointment with an instructional designer complete the One-on-One Consultation request form.
